Do You Pray

What happens when we pray? Consider this encouragement from J.C. Ryle:

Do you realize that the way to show true love for someone is to pray for them? Praying for others is the best thing for our souls: it enlarges our hearts and deepens our concern for others. Praying for others is the best thing for the church: it is the fuel for spreading the gospel. Those who pray (as Moses did on the mountain) do as much as those who fight in the thick of the battle (as Joshua did). We have the opportunity to be like Christ in this. He lifts the names of his people before his father. What a privilege to be a little like our Lord Jesus! And this is a vital way that you can truly help the minister of your church.

Although these words were penned in the nineteenth century, they meet us exactly where we are here in the twenty-first century. Be refreshed as you grow deeper in your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Read Do You Pray: A Question for Everybody by J.C. Ryle.
