What does it mean to be living in the “last days”? Commonly, when the Bible speaks about the last days, the phrase refers to the entire period between Christ’s ascension and His second coming. In fact, the book of Daniel gives us a foretaste of what’s to come when Jesus returns. As believers waiting for that imminent day, how are we to live?
D. A. Carson offers concise, forthright encouragement in his booklet From the Resurrection to His Return: Living Faithfully in the Last Days. In his brief but powerful exposition of 2 Timothy 3:1–4:8, Carson first discusses the traits observed in the end times, emphasizing the dangers of false teachers and professors of Christianity. He then devotes the next four chapters to the Apostle Paul’s commands to Timothy: Hold the right mentors in high regard, hold few illusions about the world, hold onto the Bible, and hold the Bible out to others.
From the Resurrection to His Return will motivate believers to live boldly and in a godly manner, applying the Word of God to every situation and taking the message of the Gospel to the world.
